Warfare Instead of Healthcare

To date, we don't see much difference between the Obama Administration and the Bush Administration - except that Obama is willing to spread the wars and spend even more of our tax money on these expanding occupations and wars. Exactly, what has he done?:

  • "fudged" on the timeline for bringing our troops out of Iraq.
  • He has deployed unmanned drones into Pakistan, killing over 800 innocent civilians compared to 14 Al Qaeda leaders and creating tens of thousands of people who are angry and full of revenge against the US.
  • He has moved thousands more troops to Afghanistan against the counsel of military generals and those who live in Afghanistan.
  • The Defense budget is larger than under Bush and he is requesting an $87 billion dollar supplemental for wars after saying he didn't want to separate Iraq and Afghanistan from the regular budget.

On the other hand, the country is in a severe economic crisis. Layoffs, closures, and failed mortgages are the order of the day. Families are faced with vicous and unscrupulous credit card companies that prey on the most vulnerable. Medical bills and even "medical insurance" grow beyond the grasp of more and more Americans every day.

It is time to end our world-wide image as "The United States of Destruction" and begin to build a safer and smarter economy here at home.

It is time for Heathcare, not Warfare.
